Trace & Olivia meet up again with the Willow Creek characters...with their children!

This book was a fun read for me from beginning to end. From getting to know the very interesting personality of Willow, to the protective Dean who likes to do things for her. From learning how to read a map, drive, sitting atop dragons and more things that they do on their driving adventure this story is full of a blossoming romance that neither is sure they're ready to admit to, even though they start to realize just days into the journey that they have feelings for the other. I couldn't help but to giggle at many of the antics of Willow, and grinned at Dean and his "I'm going to stick with her no matter what" attitude when she got overly silly. Micalea Smeltzer did a great job bringing to us the first of the children from her other two series. I hope you find lots of humor in this book, especially with Willow's dad and his text messages like I did. It is really neat to watch things unfold and bring together these kids. Enjoy the book, I cannot wait for more to come out!

Love this author and this book!

The Road That Led to Us is a start of a new series, but also a new generation. It is the first book in the Us series, but the characters in the book are the children on the characters in the Willow Creek and the Trace + Olivia series. So this series is good for those who want an update on their favorite characters, while falling in love with a whole new set.

The Road That Led to Us follows Willow and Dean. Willow is the daughter of Maddox, the famous drummer from the band Willow Creek. She has had a hard time being in the spotlight as she is a free spirit at heart. Dean is a Wentworth. The Wentworth is a name that is well known as well, but Dean lives his life as a mechanic, which is what he loves to do. Dean and Willow have been best friends their entire lives. Willow, itching for an adventure, goes to Dean and they end up deciding to go on a cross country road trip. What ensues is a wonderfully sweet story of two friends exploring more than the country.

Dean is the first character I really see starting to change. I think this is because he has a calm and accepting personality. This is a nice contrast to Willow's spunky and spontaneous personality. Willow really brings out the adventurous side to Dean, which is a role reversal for most books you read. Willow has some evolving to do as well. She is nineteen and has no clue what she wants to do with her life. I really enjoy her story because most nineteen year old's have similar thoughts about their lives and not wanting to disappoint.

This story is more sweet, but does have some heat. As the road trip progresses, these two best friends learn more about each other and bond after sharing experiences together. This evolves fairly quickly, which I thought was a bit quick, but enjoyed nevertheless. Their interactions with each other are some of the sweetest I've ever had the pleasure to read about.

The plot of this story I felt was lacking. I enjoyed the idea of where the author was going, but I feel like there was something missing. I didn't feel fully satisfied with the way the story was developed. This is my only real complaint though. I liked the book otherwise.

Overall, this was a wonderful book. I really like Micaela's stories and I love that she decided to show the next generation. This book was both humorous and philosophical. Some of the best quotes I will now think of comes from, this book. I would recommend this book to others.

I do like the idea of a road trip new adult romance, I have read some amazing ones that I have adored to pieces so I was definitely curious about this one after discovering the book by chance because of that cover. It is so clean and edge and draws you in and I took a chance with

The Road That Leads to Us is my first book of this author and had no clue this book as tied to previous two different series of this author. Whilst I didn’t feel anything amiss by only discovering these characters now, I do want to know more about these characters family .

Willow Wade just wants to forget her first year of college and take a summer road trip with her friend s to sort out her thoughts and plan for her future. However they have other ideas for the summer and bail on her and she returns home to with a crazy idea to still do the trip but with someone she trusts.
Dean her childhood friend and close family friend has always been her confident and she turns to him with hopes of offering a solution to her summer and plans. Instead he offers the road trips she wants , knowing that something is on her mind and that she needs it , not expecting what happens when they set off on Willow’s Epic Road Trip.

A road trip that truly represents what I love about road trips. Whimsically, no plans and random, well they had one destination. Malibu to visit Liam, her cousin, ( I do hope this broody surfer gets a story at some point) added an interesting secondary story. However this story is their’s and you have to wonder why now ?

The Road That leads To Us, isn’t a fast moving romance. It slow and gradual as we get first insight to them into their friendship and how eventually they were might for each other. Whilst they might be exploring their romance for most of the book, the relationship seems to me at time, best friend level. Though there is undoubtable fact that Dean always been there for Willow and let face it , a guy who wants to help out a girl and go on a road trip. There must be feelings as Willow’s Dad could see it

Now I had no indication that was the first in a series and whilst I feel there was slight problems with the book , I hold hope that further book in the series will solve them and offer as solutions. As this is only the beginning of their story. I liked that the author actually is working with her characters, not forcing them to reach the magical HEA in one book. These two are young and have their lives in front of them.

The first systematic treatment

This book is the result of a plant diversity symposium that composed part of a conference held at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh in September 2003. As with most scientific books of this type where the information is the result of research that was conducted very recently, there are numerous contributors, more than fifty. They come from most of the world: England, United States, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Switzerland, France, and many others.

Most of the book covers Latin and South America with discussions on the types of plants found in these environments. Only one chapter is devoted to Africa, the other large area where savannas and seasonally dry forests are to be found. And it primarily discusses the differences.

This is the first extensive compilation of the patterns of plant diversity in these neotropical ecosystems. It is a monumental work.

That is perhaps a bit of an overstatement; but it is no exaggeration to say that John Rigden's eminently readable book is a unique guide to the overwhelming role in science and technology of that simplest of all elements--from the origin of the universe itself to the most recently created lab sensation, the Bose-Einstein condensate. Simplicity to Demonstrate Complexity

It makes sense, if you are going to try to understand something, to go to the simplest instance of it and get all the information you can from the subject unimpeded by complications. Hydrogen is the simplest of all atoms. It is all around us; though hydrogen gas floats out of our atmosphere to join the hydrogen atoms that are in the "vacuum" of space, hydrogen makes up a large proportion of stars, water, and ourselves. John S. Rigden has written an admiring tribute to the simplest atom, _Hydrogen: The Essential Element_ (Harvard University Press). It turns out that hydrogen has played an enormous role in our understanding of matter and energy, and that the simplest of atoms is so complicated and surprising that Rigden's book is a continual source of elemental wonder.
Hydrogen is element number one, only a single electron orbiting a single proton. Repeatedly Rigden shows that this simplicity has been a boon to research. The lessons learned from this basic atom, in Rigden's story, form a history of physics in the twentieth century. The refinements to theory have largely been to explain the dark bands in the spectrum produce when hydrogen is made to glow. Niels Bohr produced the first modern picture of the atom, incorporating the experimental data from Rutherford and the hydrogen spectrum, but recklessly disregarding the historic laws of physics which he felt could not apply within the atom. He thus began the amazingly successful and fabulously strange quantum explanation for the behavior of matter. Rigden has not just included experimenters and theorizers, but also appealing stories about them, such as I. I. Rabi developing magnetic resonance in the 1930s to measure the nucleus, but then in 1988 being wheeled into a Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine. He said, "It was eerie... I would never have dreamed that my work would come to this." _Hydrogen_ is not just about understanding the inner workings of the atom, but also about hydrogen as the ticker of a clock, as anti-matter, and as a confirmer of big bang cosmology.
There are plenty of challenging chapters here, meant for the non-scientist but not necessarily easy reading. Although the mathematics is not detailed, there are some equations shown that could be intimidating; Dirac's equation, predicting antiparticles and electron spin, Rigden assures us is a "little equation" that can be "written in one line," and while this is true, the line has twenty algebraic symbols in it. Also, surprisingly, there is little about the hydrogen bomb. Rigden decided that the bomb did not fit into the theme of how the hydrogen atom has led and will continue to lead to improved scientific knowledge. His charming and informative book shows how some mysteries have been solved but that we should never come to the conclusion that we are close to knowing all: "After all, H stands not only for hydrogen, but also for humility."

One of my favorite physics books.

Written for the layman, the author takes you through the history of modern physics through a series of essays on the historical quest to understand the simplest atom.

John Rigden was very clever in the layout. It was not until the third chapter or so that I realized he was doing this by writing short 7 - 10 page vignettes on those physicists most important in developing a model of hydrogen that explains its observed properties. Obviously, one could see that by looking at the chapter headings but for some reason I missed that the first time I read the book.

By focusing on the one physicist at a time, and the specific question that physicist was trying to answer at a particular time, Rigden is able to walk you down a path that actually suggests you might understand quantum mechanics (QM) and the wave function, which united QM with Einstein's theory of relativity. Rigden uses almost no formulas in the book; the few that he does is simply to give the reader an example of how simple some of the concepts can be when placed in mathematical formulas. You won't understand the symbology, but you will be amazed at the elegance of the formulas. None is as good as Einstein's E = mc^2 but they come close.

It is very, very good. Along the way you will meet some very interesting physicists, most who had very humble beginnings. As interesting as the physicists themselves are, the implications of their discoveries and the strangeness of the simplest atom will have you re-reading the book.

This is a relatively compact book -- I have the hardback, which I see is now going for $60 and more through resellers on Amazon -- perfect for your carry-on. The short essays allow for easy reading during even the shortest of flights.

I highly recommend this for summer reading for the advanced high school student planning to major in physics, chemistry or biology, and to read it between the junior and senior year of high school, or the summer before going to college. I would assume this book is already considered a classic and is being recommended by college science professors for "recreational" reading.

If you have any doubt about whether you want to read this book, read the 2 1/2 page epilogue while visiting your favorite bookstore and you will be hooked.

Hydrogen, a great book

I found the book was excellent. Hydrogen is an historical book that begins with the Balmer series. The book is very expert in the area of theoretical physics and the developments of the 20th century. The book does touch upon areas of chemistry and astronomy where hydrogen plays a role, but not overly so.

I found the book to be highly readible and technical. I have worked through the various equations and have had many discussions on the subject. My brother who majored in Chemistry and has done material science research prior to becoming a doctor was unaware of many of the historical developments.

I enjoyed reading about Balmber, Lamb, and the developments of QED. The very last part of the book is not as tight as the first part. This is because the book is primarily descriptive. It is hard to know which developments in condensed physics will be primary in a hundred years.

Overall, the best book on the subject I have read. The terminology is very precise. He makes use of terms with such great specificity that the book is an excellent primer to Astronomy Methods by Bradt.
